Lucas was born in May 2013 and found abandoned as a newborn. He has been diagnosed with a congenital heart defect (repaired in March 2016), and an inverted right hand and forearm. In May 2017 he was diagnosed with microsomia, which means he is small for his age. The orphanage believes he may have autism but it hasn’t been confirmed.
SPECIAL FOCUS CHILD RELEASED TO THE SHARED LIST
Lucas has control of his right hand and is able to hold objects as can be seen in his videos. He has received physical therapy and his right hand strength has improved.
Lucas is able to use the stairs alone, wash his own hands, feed himself, and get dressed and undressed without help. Lucas is not toilet trained yet so he wears diapers both during the day and at night. He has a good appetite and is not a picky eater.
Lucas is introverted and timid, though he is comfortable around those he is familiar with who he knows will treat him kindly. He will reach out to be cuddled by his familiar caretakers when he is upset. Lucas does not like to play with other children, but enjoys playing with toys. He is able to talk, but he does not do so often. He can understand and follow directions. Lucas attends school in the orphanage. His intelligence is slightly delayed compared to other children his age. His behavior has improved since he started attending school.
