Hope was born in September 2012 and found abandoned when she was 3 years old. She has been diagnosed as being deaf.

SPECIAL FOCUS CHILD RELEASED TO THE SHARED LIST

When Hope entered her institute she was said to be relatively quiet and her language development was delayed.  She occasionally said, “mama,” and didn’t play with other children or express her needs. She was able to sit and walk without help but her coordination wasn’t good. She needed assistance going up and down stairs. To help her adapt to her new surroundings caretakers gave her more attention and took the initiative to communicate with her. Hope became “brighter” and began to take the initiative to play with other children. Shortly after entering the institute she started receiving special education. It was reported that her concentration, interaction with teachers and study ability weren’t very good, but she was smiling more than before.

At the time of her report in September 2016 she was said to be a quiet girl who smiled a lot. She wasn’t able to hold a spoon and the caregiver was working with her to teach her to feed herself. She was fond of imitating and often followed behind other children and caregivers imitating their movements such as following the motions of dancing and clapping hands while music was playing. Her language was delayed and she could only pronounce simple sounds and a few words such as “mama” and “aunt.” Her mental development was also delayed and she didn’t understand her teachers and seldom cooperated. Her self care ability was said to be relatively poor and she needed help with dressing, washing and using the toilet. She was receiving rehabilitation therapy to practice these skills. Hope really liked to go outside and was curious about strange things. She was obedient and sensitive, and her favorite toy was a rubber ball.
