Anthony

***   $2,500 GRANT AVAILABLE   ***

Anthony was born in July 2016 and found abandoned as a newborn. He has been diagnosed with post-operative meningocele and paralysis of lower limbs.

SPECIAL FOCUS CHILD

Anthony received surgery in July 2016 for tether cord syndrome and repair of lumbar meningocele. He recovered well from the surgery but at the time of his adoption report,  when he was 17 months old, he was unable to sit or stand independently. He was speaking a few words, understood what “no” meant and could respond to others asking him for objects. Caretakers reported that he hadn’t developed many skills yet due to his young age but he could roll over and pick blocks out of a cup, and they felt he would learn more skills and language in the future.

When he was unhappy Anthony’s foster parents would take him somewhere quiet and hold him and his mood would improve. He was described as being a timid little boy who liked playing with toys and listening to music.
