Daniella was born February 2011 and has been diagnosed with Down Syndrome. She is described as an active and bright girl though her intellectual capabilities are behind that of her peers.

She can use simple language, but cannot speak whole sentences. Her caretakers believe she has the intent to speak but is unable to do so clearly. Instead, Daniella often expresses herself through her actions.

She enjoys listening to children’s songs and being read short stories. Daniella can run and enjoys body rhythm training where she is asked to do movements that imitate different animals. She can feed herself, put on her shoes, and clean up after herself. She is not potty-trained and must wear a diaper. Daniella gets along well with her caregivers and peers in the institute. She enjoys watching TV and playing house (i.e. cooking, cleaning).

MAY 2018 UPDATE BELOW: 

Daniella has made great progress in her language skills! She can now introduce herself and communicate as well as other children her age. She can sing children’s songs and memorize ancient poems.

She can count from 1-20 and recognize animals and daily objects. She can jump and she enjoys doing exercises with her teacher. She can put on her pants and put away toys. She enjoys playing games with the other children and listening to music.
