Shay was born in January 2010 and found abandoned when she was around 4 years old. She has been diagnosed with developmental delay.

Shay’s adoption report was completed when she was newly 5 years old. She could go up and down stairs, hold a pen, knew big and small and understood what cold, tired and hungry meant. She could unbutton and take off clothing. She would call, “mama,” when she wanted something to eat.

Shay liked to clap her hands and enjoyed being close to others by leaning or being held. She could climb on a stool and would smile when happy. She sometimes would hum to music. She was receiving rehabilitation for her language, intelligence and motor skills. Shay was said to have an introverted and quiet personality. She liked to listen to music and would play with other children.

JANUARY 2016 UPDATE BELOW: 

Shay’s development is behind her peers. She is speaking just words, such as “Ma Ma”. She can follow simple directions. She isn’t able to take care of her own needs. She needs help with feeding, bathroom and dressing. She is receiving early education in the orphanage; she is not attending school. Shay is close to her nannies and friends in the orphanage. Her favorite actively is playing with balls.
