SPECIAL FOCUS CHILD ON THE SHARED LIST
Jimmy was born in July 2006 with a meningocele on his neck and was abandoned when he was about one month old. He had surgery to correct his meningocele when we has just four months old, and surgery to correct hydrocephalus when he was seven months old.
Jimmy is doing well now, although he does not yet have bowel control. He’s living in a foster family and they are not sending him to school because of his bowel issue, so he’s behind in his education. His mental and language development are said to be comparable to his peers. He knows simple addition and subtraction, can write simple characters, and can read a little.
Jimmy’s motor development is delayed, and his hands and feet are not very flexible although that doesn’t hold him back much. He likes to play outside, gets along well with other children, and likes to be helpful to his foster mom. He’s described as caring, optimistic, sunny, tolerant and understanding.
