SPECIAL FOCUS CHILD RELEASED TO THE SHARED LIST

In March 2009 Sylas was sent to live with a foster family and he adapted quickly to the new environment. He has brought lots of laughter to the family and his abilities improved. He could run, jump and climb and his hands were flexible. He could use a pencil to write and draw. His language expression had improved and he could communicate freely. He had good living habits and self care abilities such as brushing teeth, washing up, using the restroom and dressing. He could recite Tang Dynasty poems and liked performing them. He was described by caretakers as being introverted, although he does like speaking. He liked toy cars and Ultramar. He was polite, would express gratitude after receiving gifts and could admit his wrongdoings. He could count, distinguish size and shape, knew colors and days of the week. He spoke in sentences and asked questions. His favorite activity was being outside.

NOVEMBER 2016 UPDATE BELOW:

Agency staff met Sylas in November 2016 and learned he’d recently had surgery for hydrocephalus, from which he recovered quickly. He was said to be alert and active and able to obey commands. He spoke in long sentences, walked alone, threw and kicked a ball. Caretakers said when he is alone he is quiet but when with other children he shares well, is polite and active. He was attending school in the orphanage and caretakers said he learned a little slower than other children. He liked watching TV, eating fruit and drinking milk.
