SPECIAL FOCUS CHILD RELEASED TO THE SHARED LIST

Sean’s intelligence is reportedly on the same level as an average 2 year old. He can recognize the color red, name some body parts, and complete shape sorter games. He is able to understand and follow directions and can speak around 20 words. A U.S. geneticist who reviewed his file said that Sean may have a metabolic disorder but further testing is needed to confirm the specific disorder and necessary treatment. The orphanage has conducted a few tests that came back negative, but the test required to determine the specific disorder is too expensive and the orphanage is not planning to do it. He was believed to have a congenital heart defect at birth, but a recent check found that his heart healed itself and he no longer has this condition.

Sean lives in the orphanage with other children his age. He gets along well with others and enjoys playing with both children and adults. Sean has been known to be empathic and to comfort other upset children. He is described as energetic and happy. He laughs happily when playing games with adults. Sean enjoys playing outside, blocks, toy cars, and music. He loves to draw. He can imitate drawing lines, turn the pages of a book one at a time, and build high block towers. Sean has bowel and bladder control during the day, but needs reminders to use the bathroom at night. He is a shy child but is also happy and loving towards those he knows.
