Mason was born in December 2009 and found abandoned when he was about 4 years old wrapped in a blanket with some clothes and money beside him. He has been diagnosed with delayed language development.
AGENCY DESIGNATED SPECIAL FOCUS CHILD
Mason’s adoption file was prepared when he was 5.5 years old. At that time he could call for a nanny but was unwilling (or unable) to express himself although he could understand what was said to him. He rarely argued with other children and was said to be introverted. He could undress himself and had good limb coordination. He was good at sports, running and jumping, and could swing without help. He can go up and down stairs, jump, stand on one foot and catch a ball. He understands “big” and “small,” and knows “inner” and “outer,” “cold,” “tired” and “hungry.” He can count blocks and knows left from right.
Mason is an obedient child with a ready smile. When he hears the dining cart at meal time he will run to push it with the caretaker. He isn’t afraid of strangers. Mason adapts to new environments slowly. He has been described as shy and sometimes impatient. His favorite activity is swinging and his favorite toys are blocks.
